Mr. Landress is a Managing Principal of Liquid Realty Partners. His twenty year career encompasses the sourcing, structuring, pricing and due diligence of over $10 billion in completed real estate acquisitions and financings, securities issuances and property sales. Mr. Landress' career is further characterized by his contributions to the successful introduction, development and management of new liquidity products to the institutional real estate market including, in chronological order: Eurobond securitization, opportunistic equity investment, commercial mortgage-backed securities, real estate investment trusts, bridge lending, mezzanine finance and, with the founding of Liquid Realty, secondary private equity real estate investment.
As Global Head and Managing Director of Real Estate Investment Banking at Bank of America and BancAmerica Securities, Mr. Landress had global responsibility and authority for providing investment banking services to the bank's public and private real estate clients. His responsibilities also included the evaluation of, and investment recommendations for, primary commitments to private equity real estate funds for the bank's balance sheet account. At Bank of America, his group also managed property sales, sale-leaseback transactions, private debt placements and other transactions on behalf of the bank and institutional clients.
Mr. Landress previously held senior real estate investment and finance positions at Merrill Lynch and PaineWebber/Kidder Peabody. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Landress worked as a consultant to the high yield real estate investment group, where he managed the acquisition of a joint venture interest in a cross-border office building, bridged a discounted bank portfolio acquisition, and managed a real estate loan portfolio auction.
At Kidder Peabody and, post-merger, PaineWebber, Mr. Landress served as a member of the Investment Committee and had primary responsibility for originating, pricing and conducting due diligence for the firm's principal real estate investment and finance programs. In this role, Mr. Landress initiated relationships and committed capital to numerous real estate fund managers, real estate operating companies and public REITs, and participated in the investment and management of a $200 million discretionary mezzanine property finance fund. As a member of the investment acceptance committee, he evaluated and voted on all principal commitments, including those to numerous opportunistic and value-added real estate fund sponsor groups.
Mr. Landress holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, where he was named Real Estate Finance Scholar. He is a member of the Columbia Real Estate Circle, interviews and mentors MBA candidates through the Columbia Ambassador Program, and serves on the Reunion Committee for his class. He earned both a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Design, from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was awarded academic scholarships. He has held Series 7 and 63 securities registrations, was a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York, speaks frequently at industry conferences, and is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate.
